Do I have to pay VAT?

According to EU regulation, if you are EU customer and you are VAT-registered and can provide a valid EU VAT registration number we don't charge VAT. However if you are not VAT registered in your country, or you cannot obtain the VAT number, then we must charge you the Slovak rate of VAT what is 20%.

If you are not EU customer, we don't charge you VAT (as such a trade will be subject of import clearance in your country what covers also VAT charge).

How long will it take to get my minicaravan?

The normal lead time for build is two months and then shipping to you. Eventually you can pick up your mini-caravan in our factory in Slovakia.

The lead time may be extended depending on the additional equipment you choose as some of the equipment has an effect on the lead time (e.g. painting of the cabin or aluminium surface of the cabin)

What is the warranty

Each mini-caravan comes with a 2 year warranty. You can claim for in damage to us or to the dealer you bought the mini-caravan from.

Most repairs will be able to be undertaken by a caravan repair garage close to you or by your dealer as we use original carvan components for production.
We will then refund the costs of the repairs directly to you upon the invoice from the garage.

How much is the freight costs?

If you want us to provide the transport we send you the quotation first to accept it.
The freight costs depends on your location.

How to coupling minicaravan to the car?

Coupling a mini-caravan to a car is quite simple and if you follow this simple procedure, you’ll get it right every time.
We recommend using the same routine every time you hitch up. Always double check and do not rush.

Before starting the manoeuvre, make sure that both the mini-caravan and the towcar are under control with the car handbrake applied and the caravan hitch brake on.
The driver should always check that coupling has been completed successfully.

  1. Positioning of the vehicles - don’t manoeuvre the caravan by yourself, especially if the ground is uneven. If possible, get someone to help you.
Use the jockey wheel to adjust the height of the caravan hitch so that it is higher than the towball before reversing the car.

  2. Coupling to the towball - there is a coloured visual indicator on the coupling head you must check to confirm the attachment was successful

  3. Double check the coupling - double check that the coupling is fully engaged over the towball, with handles correctly located.

  4. Stowing the jockey wheel - after checking the coupling, the jockey wheel must be fully retracted. Fully wind up the wheel forks into the slots of the outer tube. Loosen the clamp on the A-frame and lift the entire assembly, ensuring the wheel is as high as possible, then retighten the clamp.
Important: the clamp and handle are designed for hand use - do not over tighten - deformation of the clamp or damage to the threads may result.
Alternatively, the jockey wheel assembly may be removed from the clamp altogether and stored in the car or the caravan.

  5. Correct attachment of breakaway cable - the breakaway cable is designed to apply a trailer’s brakes if it becomes separated from its towing vehicle. The cable assembly is then designed to part, allowing the trailer to come to a halt away from the towing vehicle.
Loop the cable around the neck of the towball, use a single loop only. Make sure there’s enough slack in the cable so that it does not become taut during normal use – even at extremes of steering lock and trailer articulation.

  6. Connecting the electrics - there is a 13-pin twist socket to hook up the mini-caravan to the car.  the car socket and turn it clockwise until it locks.

All over check list

Go through the check-list below to make sure your mini-caravan is ready to go:

  • is the mini-caravan coupled correctly to the car?
  • are all the doors closed and locked?
  • is the air pressure in the tyres as recommended?
  • are all the items in the mini-caravan fixed to avoid they cause any damage?
  • is the cooling box (fridge) disconnected from the gas and switched to electricity (the 12V socket "only when driving")?

Do I need a special driving license?

This will depend upon which model of mini-caravan you choose. The Bushcamp, Escape, Alpha and Wave mini-caravans are under 750 kg in the basic configuration (so-called O1 category), so you do not require a special license.

Should the weight of the fully laden mini-caravan exceeds 750kg due to any reasons (e.g. you choose many heavy additional equipment) we clasify the trailer as O2 category (weight up to 1.350 kg) and produce it according O2 category requirements. In that case you will need to ensure you have the correct driving licence to tow as it depends also on the weight of your vehicle.

What is the registration process of minicaravan?

The registration process may vary from country to country. However, generally speaking, the Certificate of Conformity which is provided together with Commercial Invoice when you buy mini-caravan from us, is sufficient to register the mini-caravan in your country (especially in EU countries).

If you are from non-EU country you may check what documents are required to pass the registration process with local authorities. We can provide copy of complete EV vehicle type report if it would be required by your authorities.

How is the transport provided?

The terms of delivery is EXW Presov according to Incoterms rules. That means that the seller (Procamp in that case) delivers the goods (mini-caravan) when it places the goods at the disposal of the buyer at the seller’s premises or at another named place (in our case Procamp factory in Presov, Slovakia). The seller does not need to load the goods on any collecting vehicle, nor does it need to clear the goods for export, where such clearance is applicable.

HOWEVER we are in position to provide transport of your mini-caravan and customs clearance (if required - in case you are out of EU).

All we need is the delivery address and we send you quotation for the transport (and customs clearance).
The transport of the mini-caravan is provided by a delivery van (small lorry). To unload the mini-caravan at your place the platform (ramp) is required (to back the lorry to the ramp and pull the mini-caravan out). Or you can use the forklift to unload.

Of course, you are allowed to come and collect the mini-caravan personally (tow it back home). In that case, we can provide you with temporary licence plate, which is valid for 30 days.

What about the custom clearance?

If you are from EU country, there is no customs clearance as Slovakia is part of EU also. If you are from non-EU country, we do the export customs clearance here and you are responsible for managing the import customs clearance in your country.

This may be a simple process as we provide you with all the documents related to the mini-caravan (Commercial Invoice, Delivery Note, CMR document and Certificate of Conformity). We can also provide EUR1 document which confirm goods origin if this would be required for import customs clearance in your country.

You can manage the import customs clearance by yourselves or use the services of specialized companies (in Switzerland for instance).

Coupling the minicaravan checklist.

Go through the checklist below to make sure your mini-caravan is correctly coupled with the car:

  1. Is the hitch fully down over the tow ball?
  2. Is the hitch head lever fully closed (down)?
  3. Are the visual indicators showing the right colour?
  4. Wind down the jockey wheel until it raises the back of the car by 25-50mm to confirm that a secure coupling has been achieved.
  5. Is the breakaway cable correctly attached, passing through the cable guide, loose but not dragging, and will not snag on full lock?
  6. Is the jockey wheel fully retracted and stowed away securely?
  7. Are the electrics correctly attached and free from dragging or snagging on full lock?
  8. Are all the lights working?
  9. Carry out a final check on the hitch

Chassis

For jacking to change a wheel is there any specific point that should by used?

To change the wheel, just use back supporting legs and front jockey wheel to lift the trailer few inches above a ground. Than you will change the wheel easily.

What is the payload on the drawbar?

Procamp trailers – O1 category (ATM - Aggregate Trailer Mass up to 750 kg)

The max. allowed loading capacity on the drawbar is 75 kg and the weight of the drawbar is:

  • Cargo version: 30 kg
  • Explorer, Scout version: 25 kg

The loading capacity on the drawbar is therefore equal to the max. loading capacity minus the weight of the drawbar:

  • Cargo version: 45 kg
  • Explorer, Scout version: 50 kg

Procamp trailers – O2 category (ATM - Aggregate Trailer Mass up to 1.300 kg)

The max. allowed loading capacity on the drawbar is 100 kg and the weight of the drawbar is:

  • Cargo version: 30 kg
  • Explorer, Scout version: 25 kg

The loading capacity on the drawbar is therefore equal to the max. loading capacity minus the weight of the drawbar:

  • Cargo version: 70 kg
  • Explorer, Scout version: 75 kg

Please note: the weight of the front storage box (accessories to the Procamp trailers) is 28 kg. This needs to be taken into account when the loading capacity is calculated (if the trailer is equipped with front storage box)

Should the jockey wheel be detached from the clamp while towing?

The jockey wheel may be detached while towing, although it’s just enough (and usual) you pull it to the upper position and fix it by a pin hanging from a chain from the Jockey wheel handle.

Electric equipment

I have only 7-pin socket for trailer connection in my car, is that ok?

There is a 13-pin connection in our mini-caravans as 13-pins are required for proper function of reverse lights as well as  using the cooling box and charging the built-in battery (Bushcamp PRE, Escape PRE and Alpha) while towing the trailer.

The 7/13 pin reducer is included in basic configuration of all our mini-caravans

Is there 12V el. network installation in minicaravan?

There is a 12V el. power network installed in minicaravans providing 1 pc of 12V socket in the cabin and 1 pc of the socket in the kitchen.

This el. network is powered by car battery or by built-in traction 12V battery (Bushcamp Exploer, Escape Explorer and Alpha only).
The protection device against car battery discharge is installed by default in all the model versions except the Cargo and Wave (there is however an option to install it additionally)

Is there 230V el. instalation in minicaravans?

There is 230V el. network installed in all the model version by default providing 1 pc of 230V el. socket in the cabin and another el. socket in the kitchen.
(except Bushcamp BSC, Escape BSC and Wave, where is however a possibility to get it 230V el. network installed additionally)

You just need to hook up the mini-caravan to the mains in campsite, at home or anywhere with electric hook-up facilities.

The mini-caravans with 230V el. network installation are supplied with mains hook-up cable (1,5 m long).

Is there any way to get 230V without getting hooked up to the mains?

There is such a possibility for all Explorer model versions and for Alpha model series. You just have to order additiona equipment called power inverter (or just an inverter).

This device changes direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC) and it is designed to provide 230 V AC from the 12 V DC source provided by built-in battery in mini-caravan (Explorer model versions and Alpha model series)

Where can I control the power unit (and thus the built-in battery) from?

There is a control panel installed in the kitchen where you can find the power unit main switch as well as battery status indicator, which shows you the level of built-in battery voltage.
(The part of the control panel is also a water level status indicator, which shows you the level of the water in water tank...)

How to protect car battery is drained out when caravan is connected to the car?

There is a "Protection device against car battery discharge" installed in the model versions Bushcamp DLX and Escape DLX( *). This device automatically disconnect mini-caravan from the car battery if the voltage of car battery gets below 11,5V.
You can find the control panel of "Protection device against car battery discharge" installed in the kitchen (eventually in the cabin in case of older production). There are three buttons on the control unit (display) with the following functionality:

  • top button - "ON" - you turn the device on and enable getting the power from car battery to the mini-caravan. Please note, the device has to be turned on if you want to use 12V el. installation of your mini-caravan when connected to the car (car battery)
  • middle button "Check" - it shows the actual voltage level of car battery
  • bottom button "OFF" - it turns the device off and disconnect the mini-caravan from the car (not physically though, but there is no el. power in the 12V installation so the interior ceiling lights and 12V plugs are not powered).

Please note: turning the "Protection device against car battery discharge" on or off has no influence on the mini-caravan tail lights and position lights. Those are powered from the car regardless on "Protection device against car battery discharge" status.

* In case of PRE model version (Bushcamp PRE and Escape PRE) and Alpha, the protection device against the car battery discharge is an internal part of power unit.

Is built-in battery recharged automatically when towing the minicaravan?

Yes, the traction built-in battery (Bushcamp Explorer, Escape Explorer and Alpha only) is recharged automatically when towing the mini-caravan thanks to the power unit installed in these model versions.
However you need special module installed in your car which allows to "send extra energy from car alternator to the trailer". This module is quite common thing and you can get it installed in any car garage.

When trailer is hooked up to the 230V mains, does the built-in battery automaticaly charge?

Yes, when you hook up the mini-caravan to the 230V mains, the power unit installed in mini-caravan starts charging the battery automatically (power unit and built-in battery are installed in Bushcamp PRE, Escape PRE and Alpha only).

Just make sure that RCCB (residual current circuit-breaker) is switched ON (you can find it in the top kitchen cabinet). The LED light on the control panel also turns ON in this case.

What is the power supply unit which is installed in Explorer models and Alpha?

Converter is a device which converts 230V to 12V – that means you can recharge the built-in battery when the mini-caravan is hooked up to the 230V mains.
The converter also regulates the charging of the battery when towing and it also protects car battery against the discharge (if the mini-caravan takes el. power from the car)

It contains a battery charging module, the complete 12V distribution, the protection of the 12V circuits as well as other control and monitoring functions.

Characteristics:

  • Bistable 12V main switch relay
  • Charging booster 8A for battery charging while driving
  • Charge the battery over 230V
  • Suitable for 6-cell lead-acid and lead-gel batteries
  • Connection for solar controller
  • Automatic shutdown of the consumers when switching on the ignition

Water system

How is the fresh water provided?

There is 40l water tank installed in Bushcamp Explorer, Escape Explorer and Alpha model version. The running water is provided by electric water pump powered by built-in 12V battery.

The kitchen is equipped with the sink and tap.

Is there any way to get hot water in minicaravan?

We can install a gas heated boiler to the mini-caravan (Bushcamp Explorer, Escape Explorer and Alpha). The boiler is installed in the double floor and it's fueled by gas. The gas boiler has excellent insulation to ensure that almost no heat is lost.
If the water temperature drops, the electronics reignite automatically.

The capacity of the boiler is 10l and external shower is installed automatically in that case (with cold and hot water regulator).

We also install tap for cold and hot water in the kitchen if the boiler is installed.

Can I have shower installed in minicaravan?

External shower can be installed in Bushcamp Explorer, Escape Explorer and Alpha model version (the mini-caravans with 40l water tank and el. pump powered by built-in battery).

The external shower connector is installed from outside of the mini-caravan (usually on the left sidewall). Just plug the shower hose with shower head the connector to use the shower.

In the terms of shower - may this be installed in the minicaravan without built-in battery?

An another way to get a shower installed in the minicaravan is using camping solar shower bag, which is usually placed on the roof (roof basket tray is recommended in this case).

The capacity of solar shower bag is 60l.

Gas installation

Is there gas system installed in mini-caravans by default?

No. The gas system is installed in mini-caravans as an option only as there are caravan users who prefers caravn without gas system installed.

We can install gas system to Bushcamp Explorer, Escape Explorer and Alpha model versions only.

Is gas system safety for my minicaravan?

The installation work of gas system is done by a licensed person as it requires a certified installation of pipework, fittings and appliances.
The gas installation inspection protocol is provided.

It is not mandatory but it’s widely recommended (and downright sensible) that all gas cylinders are closed when travelling.

What is the gas primarily used for?

The standard gas system covers cooker installation (2-stoves gas-cooker installation in Bushcamp Explorer, Escape Explorer or Alpha).

In addition to that the gas is used as an energy source for fridge (cooling box), boiler or heater (both equipment are optional accessories to Bushcamp Explorer, Escape Explorer and Alpha).

If there is no gas system installed in the minicaravan, how can I cook the meal?

The portable (camping) gas stove is part of standard equipment of all Bushcamp Explorer and Scout, Escape Explorer and Scout as well as Alpha model versions.

Where is the gas bottle located?

The gas bottle is placed in the bottom left cabinet of kitchen furniture. The cabinet is big enough for 2 x 2,8 kg gas bottles.

There is of course flow-through ventilation system implemented in gas compartment and in the kitchen area.

Which gas bottle can I use?

Use gas bottles designed for use as a fuel while camping and caravanning. We use Campingaz bottled of 1.85 or 2.8 kg.

There are 2 campingaz bottles of 2.8 kg weight that fits to gas bottle compartment located in the bottom left of kitchen furniture.

Cabin

General

What material is the cabin made from?

The cabin is made from sandwich panels with the core of polyurethane (PU) foam and laminate sheets layer bonded to each side. The thickness of the sandwich panel is 28 mm.

Can I choose the colour of my minicaravan?

The standard basic colour of the cabin is white (the colour of the laminate layer of the PU sandwich panel the cabin is made from).

There are however several way to customize the way your mini-caravan look:

  • Raptor protective coating (customized colour painting) - it is durable urethane coating that provides surfaces with a protective barrier that can withstand the toughest situations. The raptor coating tolerates most climatic conditions, it is U.V. resistant and won't fade or "chalk" even after years in the sun. Moreover, it's also waterproof and protects surfaces from rust making. It is perfect for surfaces that will be submerged in water, including salt water (it is one of the reason the chassis of Bushcam PRE and Escape PRE are black painted with raptor colour).
  • Metallic colour painting - we can paint your mini-caravan the same colour shade as your car to go with.
  • Airbrush cabin decoration - it can be applied partially or on the whole trailer - just choose the theme and we make it.
  • Applying foil on the side walls, roof and doors - either one colour foil or graphic decoration foil

When sleeping in, how is the fresh air provided?

There is a flow-through ventilation system provided by ventilation holes (with sliding regulator). Moreover, each mini-caravan is equipped with adjustable roof window and el. fan installed in roof window possibility.

In addition to that all, there is a flip up hatch window installed in the side door.

What if procamp trailers roof load rating?

There is approximately 260 kg you can load on the roof in total when the trailer is static, while only up to 90 kg when on the road.

The 90 kg limit when on the road is enough for the weight of the standard roof tent including the weight of the roof racks.

Cabin equipment

What is the wall decoration of the cabin?

The walls in the cabin are upholstered by cotton fabric. There is one basic fabric texture we use as a standard. You can choose from other two textures in addition.

How is the ventilation provided, is there any?

There is a flow-through ventilation system provided by ventilation holes (with sliding regulator). Moreover, each minicaravan is equipped with adjustable roof window and el. fan installed in roof window possibility.

In addition to that all, there is a flip up hatch window installed in the side door.

Lighting equipment

How is the lighting of the cabin provided?

There are 2 LED interior lights (12V only powered) installed in cabin (except the Wave model version as there is only 1 LED light installed).
The LED lights are touch controlled and dimmable with two lighting modes - day light and night (blue) light.

In addition to this standard lighting there are two flexible reading LED lamps installed in Bushcamp PRE and Escape PRE model versions.

Furniture

What material is the furniture made from?

The furniture is made from plywood what is high-strength and durable material. The surface is wooden veneering sheet what provides look and feel of solid wood.

Can I choose an other color of the furniture?

The standard colour shade of the furniture veneeering is "Oak wood".

There is however possibility to choose the other wooden-veneer (for different kind of solid wood look of the furniture) or you can go for HPL (High Pressure Laminate) veneer which is offered in various colours or even wooden-like look.
The advantage of HPL veneer is high durability.

Fridge (cooling box)

How is the fridge (cooling box) powered?

The standard type of cooling box which is supplied with the mini-caravan is powered by 12V, 230V or gas. There are extra el. sockets in the kitchen to plug the cooling box

  • 1 x 12V sockets to be used when caravan is towed by car (and so the cooling box is powered by the 12V from the car)
  • 1 x 12V socket to be used when caravan is parked (the electricity is then taken from built-in 12V battery in mini-caravan)
  • 1 x 230V socket to be used when mini-caravan is hooked-up to the mains

The cooling box can be powered by gas also and there are two types of cooling box we use from that point of view:

  • powered by gas cartridge (cooling box model supplied to DLX model versions and Explorer model versions without gas cooker installation). The cooling box can be powered by 1 pc of cartridge for almost 24 hours.
  • powered by gas bottle (cooling box model supplied to Bushcamp Explorer, Escape Explorer and Alpha with gas cooker installed)

What is the difference between connecting the cooling box to the 12V "only when driving socket" and the normal 12V socket?

We do not recommend having fridge connected to the "only when driving" socket" when mini-caravan is not towing to save the car battery. (as this socket takes the power directly from the car)

Connect cooling box to the normal 12V socket instead to use the built-in battery (Bushcamp Explorer, Escape Explorer and Alpha only) or to the 230V socket instead (just make sure the mini-caravan is hooked up to the 230V mains and circuit-breaker (located in the top kitchen cabinet) is ON. Eventually use gas as a power source.

What kinds of fridge (cooling boxe) do you offer?

There are two basic models of the cooling box we use - both of them operates on absorption principle and both of them have capacity 40 liters.

First one is 12V/230V and gas cartridge powered and we install it to all mini-caravans (Explorer, Scout and Alpha) without gas facility (that means without gas cooker installation) as this is optional equipment for all Procamp mini-caravans.
One gas cartridge is capable to power the fridge for app. 24 hours.

Another model version is 12V/230V and gas powered and we install it by default to the mini-caravans with gas cooker installed.
In that case the fridge is connected to the gas bottle directly and there is no need to use the gas cartridges.

Except of these basic models we offer also compressor operated cooling box with 35l capacity. This cooling box can be powered by 12V or 230V only.

Troubleshooting

Water tank leakage

If you have a suspicion that water tank (40l) is leaking (due to water cumulated in the metal box the water tank is located in), please double-check the blue lid first to make sure it’s properly closed.

The unproperly closed lid is the most often reason the water appear in the metal box the water tank is placed in and that leads to the conclusion the water tank is leaking.

Cabin lights don't work when trailers is hooked up to the 230V mains.

If your trailer is hooked up to the 230V mains and cabin lights don’t work, please note the following:

The cabin lights are 12V powered and thus they are powered either from a car battery (trailer right coupled to the car) or from built-in 12V battery in the caravan.
The Explorer model series, as well as Alpha model series, are equipped with 12V battery which powers also the cabin interior lights (regardless the trailer is connected to the car or not).

There is however no built-in 12V battery in either Scout model series or Cargo model series and Wave. In this case, the cabin lights work only if the trailer is coupled to the car (so it takes 12V from the car battery).

However, there is an option to install 12V battery additionally to Explorer model series and make the cabin lights work even if the trailer is not connected to the car.

Please note, hooking the trailer up to the 230V mains, makes only 230V sockets work (you can find them in the cabin or kitchen area).
